Ann Parker is a poet and author from Hertfordshire England. She is the author of The Abigail Summers Cozy Mysteries and Magic & Memories. She has been featured in many anthologies and magazines.

What inspired you to start writing?

I started to write stories for my grandchildren and found I enjoyed it. This progressed to poems and I got asked to write them for birthday gifts. Before I knew it, I had written a short stories book and had been in various anthologies and magazines. I've been reading mystery books since I was 11, so I thought I would try to write one myself and The Abigail Summers Mysteries appeared in my mind.

Who are some of your favorite authors and books?

I grew up with Agatha Christie and Conan Doyle, but these days I enjoy the Mrs Jeffries mysteries by Emily Brightwell.
Another author I love is MC Beaton and her Agatha Raisin books, although I will read any cozy mystery with a good cover.

What would you like to tell readers who have just discovered your books, but haven't read one yet?

I always have more than one murder or story line in each book, with a lot of twists and turns. I even surprise myself sometimes. The stories are set in a village on the Chiltern Hills where I live.
It has a brilliant female sleuth with quirky friends to help her. If you like a funny, clever mystery with at least one cat, then this book is for you.

Who is the favorite character you created, and how did they come into being?

That's a hard one as I have a lovely psychic medium, Hayley Moon and an 80 year old, called Betty, who has a wealth of sayings, but never says them quite right. But I think Abigail has to be my favourite. She's rather bossy, nosy and apt to take over, but knows it and can laugh with the others. She has a great sense of humour as well as a brilliant mind. And I don't want to give too much away but I think she is falling for one of the other sleuths!

What are your future plans as a writer?

I have written two Abigail Summers books so far, but I would love to publish at least five.
We used to spend a lot of weekends sailing, so maybe I could set a mystery series on the coast. Murder in the Marina perhaps and the sleuth could teach sailing or work in the Yacht Club. Hmm, where's my pen?!
