He lives in southern New Jersey.

IN THE AUTHOR’S WORDS

Author interview

Interview submitted .

What inspired you to start writing?

I've always had a vivid imagination, and from the time I was a child I wanted to put my daydreams to paper, creating imaginary worlds and the characters who walk within them.

Who are some of your favorite authors and books?

I have many favorite authors. Ernest Hemingway, for his crisp prose and emotional endings. James A. Michener for his historical epics. Bernard Cornwall and Ken Follett for their wide selections in historical fiction. Daphne Dumaier, who is such a fabulous writer. And for mysteries, Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie and Anne Perry.

What would you like to tell readers who have just discovered your books, but haven't read one yet?

I write all things historical—thrillers, mysteries and romance—with settings that span from Normandy in the year 1216 to Cape May, N.J. in 1976. Each book is different, with a fresh set of challenges my characters must face.

Who is the favorite character you created, and how did they come into being?

Many of my novels feature strong women who are often underestimated, only to ultimately surprise the reader. Abigail St. Clair in The Minister's Wife, Ariana Rojas, in The Drop, and Gabrielle, in the Song of Gabrielle, are a few.

What are your future plans as a writer?

I plan to write two books per year, all historical thrillers and mysteries - most with a touch of romance. I always have a book or two in progress while I research what follows. Books currently in the pipeline are set in WWII Belgium, the Antebellum South, and the American West.
