Biography
Michael N Wilton (adopted the ‘N’ to distinguish from a US writer of the same name) is an English author of romantic comedies and children’s adventure stories. He was born in Greenwich in 1929 and has lived in Surrey since being evacuated to the country at the start of WW2.
His love of books was firmly set very early on; from devouring schoolboy episodes of Desperate Dan, Billy Bunter & Co and Richmal Crompton’s William in his early youth, he moved up through the ranks of Leslie Charteris, Victor Canning and Nevil Shute, and discovered in the process the excitement of reading such authors as Dick Francis, Simenon, H.E. Bates and E.M. Forster, amongst many others.
However, it wasn’t until he happened upon a paperback of P.G.Wodehouse in his local bookshop that he finally felt at home and has been one of his devoted fans ever since.
Despite a long career in corporate writing, which spanned a wide range of areas - from freelance copywriting and press relations to industrial film production, Michael only began writing fiction after he retired, but has done so with gusto, producing six books – two children’s books and four romantic comedies so far, with more in the pipeline.
Influenced by classic English comedy writers, such as P.G. Wodehouse and H. E. Bates, Michael’s writing style is easy-going and brimming with traditional British humour. His well-crafted stories feature light-hearted plots, packed with romps and escapades, and hapless, yet likeable heroes saving the day and getting the girl.
