Biography

Rachel Nightingale (Dr Rachel Le Rossignol) is an author, educator, actor and award-winning playwright. Her fantasy trilogy, The Tales of Tarya, explores the magic of creativity. She is also the co-author of Mandala: Journeys Within the Circle, with artist Karen Scott. Her plays and musicals have been performed onstage and on radio in Australia, New Zealand and Manila, including in various play festivals. Rachel co-wrote and performed in Murder on the Puffing Billy Express, a murder mystery show performed regularly on the iconic Puffing Billy steam train in Melbourne, Australia. She holds both a Masters degree and PhD in creative and professional writing, as well as qualifications in editing, social work and education. An experienced public speaker, Rachel has appeared at numerous writing conferences and festivals. As an educator she has run creative writing workshops for primary school age children in India and Australia, and has taught in the tertiary sector in Australia and Vietnam. In her spare time she is a pin-cushion to a Devon Rex, a chew toy for some crazy chihuahuas, and a craft-a-holic. Being autistic, Rachel understands what it's like to be different and embraces diversity and acceptance.
