What inspired you to start writing?

Raven was inspired to start writing during her time working at the Stickney Forest View Public Library and the Lyons Public Library. Surrounded by countless books, she developed a deep love for literature, often holding each book in her hands and pondering the authors' inspirations behind their stories. This environment fueled her imagination and creativity. Additionally, the unwavering support from her mother played a significant role in her writing journey. Her mother's encouragement and belief in her talent provided the motivation Raven needed to pursue her passion for writing.

Who are some of your favorite authors and books?

Raven has a diverse range of favorite authors who have significantly influenced her writing journey. J.K. Rowling stands out as a major inspiration, particularly for her ability to create the enchanting world of the Harry Potter series, which has captivated readers of all ages. Raven also admires Stephen King for his mastery of horror storytelling, drawing readers into thrilling and suspenseful narratives. Additionally, Poppy Z. Brite's unique take on vampire lore has left a lasting impression on Raven, showcasing a love for the darker, more gothic elements of storytelling. These authors have not only inspired her but have also shaped her own writing style and interests.

What would you like to tell readers who have just discovered your books, but haven't read one yet?

Raven would like to extend a warm welcome to readers who have just discovered her books. She encourages them to dive into her stories with an open heart and mind. Who is the favorite character you created, and how did they come into being?

Raven's favorite character is Ellie from her book "12 Stem Roses." Ellie embodies many of Raven's own experiences and qualities, making her a deeply personal creation. Like Raven, Ellie faces numerous obstacles in her life, yet she remains kind and sweet, even in the face of ungratefulness from others. Her compassion shines through, as she continues to show love and understanding despite being bullied and taken advantage of. Ellie's strength and resilience resonate with Raven, as she represents the struggle to maintain one's heart and kindness in a challenging world. Through Ellie, Raven hopes to inspire readers to embrace their own strength and compassion, no matter the difficulties they encounter.
