IN THE AUTHOR’S WORDS

Author interview

Interview submitted .

What inspired you to start writing?

I have been writing poems and stories since I was in grade school--inspired by the poems, stories and novels I was assigned to read by English teachers.

Who are some of your favorite authors and books?

I have been mostly inspired by modernist writers and poets like T. S. Eliot, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, James Joyce, and E. M Forster. As a teacher I loved teaching the fantasy books of J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis and classic novels by Mark Twain, Robert L. Stevenson, Hawthorn, Alcott, Whitman and Dickenson.

What would you like to tell readers who have just discovered your books, but haven't read one yet?

If you love Christmas, I hope you will love the North Pole Letters: A Christmas Memoir and that it will make your holiday more enjoyable.

Who is the favorite character you created, and how did they come into being?

I love Billybags and his fellow elves who often go on fantasy adventures.

What are your future plans as a writer?

I am publishing a memoir of a trip across the United States as a young man in 1970. I am also writing an adult Christmas Romance novel and detective series of novels.
