Discover the Hidden Cost of Immortality in Eternal Life

When the Time Mechanix Crew answers a distress signal, they're prepared for a typical mission—rescue a time machine, retrieve the lost rider, and return home. But nothing is routine about Kotar. Two thousand years in the future, this barren planet lies under three relentless suns, buried in blinding white sand, and eerily silent.

As they search for the missing Time Rider, the team stumbles upon a talking fountain that claims to grant eternal life—a gift it says has already been given to the missing man. When a fierce storm separates them, one member is left behind with the fountain’s tempting offer. What begins as a search mission quickly spirals into a race to uncover Kotar’s buried secrets—before one of their own becomes the next to vanish beneath the sands.

Eternal Life is the thrilling first book in Time Mechanix, a new middle grade sci-fi series by Kyle Owens, blending time travel, mystery, and moral choices into a high-stakes adventure.

Excerpt from the book

In the year 3738, time travel was now possible for the affluent. They could venture into the future or the past, to observe worlds beyond the reach of others. To make the once impossible a routine reality.

Potential travelers would go through rigid tests for health and mental capacities. If they passed those rounds of evaluations, they were taught how to use the Time Machine 409 and be given the prestigious title of Time Rider.

While most of the time travel duties were controlled through autopilot and artificial intelligence, the Time Rider would have it upon themselves to follow the regulations of no communications with the inhabitants of the time-line they were visiting nor leave anything there or bring anything back from the time-line. They were only to observe within their Time Machine while in Ghost Mode which was a program to create invisibility to those around them inside the visited timeline. Even the sound the Time Machine created was no more than a gentle hum from the engine to aid in the undetectability of the Time Machine or Time Rider. To interfere in any form, no matter how small, could create a tear in both space and time birthing time continuity issues unreversible, thus effecting the known established universe as a whole in uncomprehensible ways.

The Time Riders were allowed a preset time of walking outside the Time Machine, provided favorable atmospheric pressures and suitable situations were met in which they would not be seen by the inhabitants of the visited timeline.

In case of an emergency, their training would show them how to manually get the Time Machine back to their timeline If this failed, either the emergency system of the Time Machine would be launched by the computer or by the Time Rider by way of a Time Flare for the Time Mechanix, an elite team to come to their timeline for assistance.

While many people apply for the time travel project, few could afford the very extravagant fee, complete the training, or withstand the pain of the serum which was applied through the eyes with a large needle. It was a very painful process but very necessary for time travel. It aided in breaking down the atoms of the Time Rider for the time travel process and to reconstruct their DNA then restore them back into their proper order and standing upon their return from the time travel destination. Without the serum time travel would be impossible.

Again, the Time Rider was to observe the visited timeline. The Time Rider cannot directly interfere or communicate in any form for fear of it destroying the timeline. That is why the Time Riders are given such stringent tests, evaluation, rules, and regulations to reenforce this action.

In 3738 the time travel project had been going on for fifty years. But it was soon determined that a special team would have to be put together to help fix downed Time Machines that are in distant worlds and timelines and retrieve them and its Time Rider back to their current timeline. This gave birth to the Time Mechanix program.

What follows is one of their adventures.
