A Lost Gospel. A Global Conspiracy. A Dangerous Truth.

For over two millennia, rumors have swirled about a gospel written by the hand of Jesus Christ—an artifact so powerful it could dismantle the pillars of organized religion. Now, the truth is on the verge of being revealed. When Pope Peter II entrusts the sacred text to a secluded American monastery for translation, a massacre erupts and the document disappears without a trace.

Vatican investigators Dylan Taggert and Nia Grayson are thrown into a high-stakes chase that spans continents—from the quiet Midwest to Rome and Jerusalem. As they follow a trail of blood and secrets, they uncover a vast conspiracy linking the leadership of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam in a plot to suppress the most transformative religious discovery in history.

"The Hidden Prophecies," the second installment in Mark Reps’ gripping Saint Anselm Mysteries, is a pulse-pounding international thriller that explores faith, power, and the hidden forces shaping the modern world.

Confidential Letters

Pope Peter II pressed his fingers against the orbs of his weary eyes. A year earlier, even a month prior to this very moment, this action would serve to clear his vision and reduce his weariness. But now, this simple deed created a pain so crippling it nearly swept the breath away from his lungs. His personal physician had warned him that the metastasized tumor in his brain would be highly sensitive to even the lightest of touches. The doctor further advised that great lengths should be taken by the Pope to avoid any pressure over the eye sockets.

Once the pain had passed, Pope Peter II was fresh with the realization that the Angel of Death was creeping ever nearer. His entreaty to the Almighty was for the strength to complete his mission on Earth.

The Pope’s closest friend, Cardinal Wilmanowicz, stood at his side. At the sight of the facial distortions brought on by the extreme discomfort of the illness, Wilmanowicz cringed as though the pain were his own. The Cardinal’s devotion to the Holy See was said to be as deep as his love for the Almighty.

“What may I do to ease your suffering, Holy One? Perhaps it would be best if you saved your eyes. Please allow me to read aloud your personal correspondence.”

Peter II shook his head. Some things were meant for his eyes only. Dying did not change that. The Pope waved his most trusted ally away with the unsteady hand of a man whose life force was on the wane. The Cardinal bowed and backed away slowly. Taking a seat in the shadows, a few short paces from the foot of the Papal reading throne, he observed his Pope with the most critical of eyes.

The room which they occupied, save the floating motes of ancient dust, was absent any motion. Motionlessness, a hallmark of death itself, was not lost on either of the men.

Peter’s heart and mind were made serene by the stillness. He waited restively before glancing at the return labels of his personal mail. Most of the correspondence he set aside. Two he did not. The first envelope bore the secret mark of Professor Vinton Albers Bede. The second carried the coded return address of Professor Emmanuel Walbenz. The Pope knew without opening them that both memos covered the same subject, the Sacra Biblo.

The timing of the communiqués, he suspected, was either ordained by the Almighty who ruled the heavens or by Satan, whose domain was the nefarious underworld of Christianity. Not knowing whose directive was guiding the hand of the sender, the leader of a billion-plus Roman Catholics hesitated in his mind.

With time running short and many questions left as yet unanswered, Pope Peter II knew that based upon the information contained in the letters, he must act. He was also aware that his measures might well have a consequential effect on the whole of the human race. He prayed deeply that the information presented by the educators would enlighten him in a manner that would serve God, the Church, his constituency, and the world. His fingers fumbled as he opened the first letter.
