David R. Lewis

David R. Lewis lives in a small village near Stafford, England, with his wife Mandy. His creative activity also takes in watercolour painting and additional creative writing. His hobbies are reading, walking, gardening, watching sports, including following his local football team Stafford Rangers. Other interests include military history and space exploration, and as a keen environmentalist he volunteers for the local Cannock Chase National Landscape organisation.

What inspired you to start writing?

I always felt approaching retirement that I had a book in me, then the time became available to write one. The NaNoWriMo challenge in 2023 gave me the structure I needed to move from ideas to writing. Imagining feeling my own book, its cover and having an ISBN constantly drove me on to complete my debut novel.

Who are some of your favorite authors and books?

I like Vince Flynn and Scott Mariani of today's authors. Military history through James Holland and Max Hastings are also favourites. Big political biographies, Margaret Thatcher, Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela and the Clinton's also feature. Space books however are at the top and Failure is not an option by Gene Kranz is favourite ever book.

What would you like to tell readers who have just discovered your books, but haven't read one yet?

My debut novel is in the process of being published, so please read it when it comes out in 2025. It's a story of consequences and unpredictability, taking you on a journey away from normality but in a real world context.

Who is the favorite character you created, and how did they come into being?

Christian Marbeck, but my book isn't published yet so I can't say more.

What are your future plans as a writer?

I have started the scenarios for my second book including some initial writing and in the back of my mind hopefully a third book to conclude the story.
