NEXT CHAPTER AUTHOR
Susan Paxton has been writing and teaching for many years. THE OCEAN’S EDGE is her first published novel. She has also written three unpublished YA novels and an MG novel. Currently, she is at work on a sequel to THE OCEAN’S EDGE.
If not writing, she can be found balancing precariously in a yoga class, searching for signs of porpoises or wild horses on the beaches of the Outer Banks, or walking her dog, Jazzy who attracts a lot of attention for her adorableness.
She has two grown sons and three wonderful grandsons. She lives with her husband in Norfolk, VA.
IN THE AUTHOR’S WORDS
Interview submitted .
My love of reading lead me to want to write. I had inspiring writing teachers in college who helped me find my voice. Sometimes that voice was muted, but it gained strength over the years. I've written five novels and am overjoyed THE OCEAN'S EDGE has found a home with NEXT CHAPTER.
THE GREAT GATSY by F. Scott Fitzgerald
THE LORD OF THE RINGS by JRR Tolkien
INVISIBLE MAN by Ralph Ellison
THE SECRET PLACE by Tana French
DEMON COPPERFIELD by Barbara Kingsolver
JAMES by Percival Everett
I want to transport readers to a place where beauty is breathtaking and can come at a heavy cost--where characters find their lives complicated by the past, where the characters and the readers face shocking revelations and unexpected joy.
I love all my characters but Maude Darthforth is one of the most intriguing to write because she is a woman who has made choices in her life that other people either champion or distain. She plows ahead anyway.
I'm currently revising a sequel to THE OCEAN'S EDGE. Many of the characters from that novel will reapper. New ones wiill make the charaters' adventures thrilling and suspenseful.
