Nine-year-old Obu lives in Kenya, loves soccer and does not speak. His family and teachers have tried to help him find his voice, but words do not come. Then his grandfather gives him a drum. Through its different rhythms, Obu discovers another way to share what he feels and tell people what he needs. As those around him begin to understand the sounds he makes, the drum opens a path toward connection. This children's story follows a quiet boy whose music encourages others to listen.
